Statement:
Jeff Wallin studied under Professor Keiko Hara at Whitman College, graduating in 1995 with a B.A. in Studio Art, emphasis on painting and printmaking. His introduction to glass came in 1999 through employment at Ray Ahlgren’s Fire Art Glass studio, one of the premiere art glass production studios in the country. Notable collaborations at Fire Art Glass have included established glass figures Preston Singletary and Daniel Clayman; widely recognized fine artists Lucinda Parker and Keiko Hara; and monumental ceramicist Jun Kaneko. Wallin is now the Studio Director at Fire Art, and continues to gain new understandings in how to apply the challenging medium of glass to his ongoing exploration of the human form. Jeff was awarded the Sybren Valkema Award at Young Glass 2007, held in Denmark at the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft. In 2008 Wallin completed an artist residency at Vrij Glas Studio in Amsterdam. He has been a guest juror for E-merge 2010, Bullseye’s international juried biennial exhibition for emerging artists. Additionally, Wallin’s work has been reviewed in the Urban Glass Quarterly, and selected twice for publication in the Corning New Glass Review. Instagram: jeff_j_wallin |
