James Reed, born in White River Mpumalanga South Africa, earned a Visual Arts National Diploma from Port Elizabeth Technicon ( now known as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) in South Africa 1994, and an MA at Oxford Brookes University, UK, 2007. He received a Full British Common Wealth Chevening Scholarship to develop research for the MA. He has exhibited his art and worked as an arts lecturer and instructor in the US, UK, and South Africa.
