Covid and Me: A Falling Out
Archival Pigment print
28” x 49”
$800
I am interested in creating composite and digital collage art from my photographs and scanned textures and the appropriation of other imagery.
This Covid 19 piece is about female identity as we allow ourselves to be defined by our hair. In as much as we allow our hair to define us; we are devastated and feel alienated to ourselves by hair loss- a common source of shame for many women. Curly hair in particular is less valued, and actually disparaged in the beauty industry. I restricted this piece to Black and White to emphasize the beautiful texture of the hair strands themselves.
