For several years my paintings have been about moments of stability in the midst of constant transformation. Things are special because they don't last forever, and my focus has been on trying to suggest a moment frozen in time.
Recently, however, I've been thinking about transformation and the potential for change. What is increasingly interesting to me is visualizing what a line or a shape—or anything for that matter—is on the verge of becoming. I want the forms in my new paintings to feel like they are about to evolve into something new.
